PIERCING AFTERCARE

Here at Bloom, we are big fans of the 'Less is more' philosophy.

Our bodies are wonderfully engineered, and they do fantastic feats all on their own.

With some basic hygiene, and a little self control, most piercings can be healed up perfectly with minimum   interference or interruption to your daily life!

We are obviously NOT Doctors, just piercers! So these are simply suggestions for BASIC aftercare!

Individual suggestions and instructions will be given to EVERY person after they are pierced, as well as written reminders of that care!

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

FOR BODY PIERCINGS

  • WASH your hands thoroughly prior to cleaning or touching your piercing any reason

  • SALINE rinse as needed while healing. For certain piercings, it may be easier to apply using sterile gauze saturated with sterile saline solution.

  • RINSE site as needed to remove cleaning solution residue. Moving or rotating jewelry is not necessary during cleaning or rinsing.

  • DRY by gentle patting with sterile gauze or minimum clean disposable paper products, Cloth towels can harbor bacteria and snag on jewelry causing irritation and injury.

Basic Rules Summed up

  1. DONT TOUCH IT! NO TWISTING, TURNING, SPINNING, ROTATING, OR REMOVING THE JEWELRY.

  2. DON'T SUBMERGE IT. Refrain from going under water in lakes, rivers, oceans, pools, Jacuzzis, hot tubs, and bath tubs! Stick to showers only for at least 1 month while your wound heals!

  3. SALINE ONLY - Stick to sterile saline wound wash to irrigate and gently clean your piercing. Please leave the old school methods of alcohol, iodine, peroxide, ointments, aspirin paste, tea tree oil, etc in the past where they belong. They are bad ideas and shouldn't be attempted, no matter what your friend says.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

FOR INSIDE THE MOUTH

  • RINSE mouth with cleaning solution for 50 Mississippi seconds ONCE daily.

  • SUBTITUTE cleaning solution for clean, bottled water after eating, drinking, smoking, and bed time.

  • MONITOR. Cleaning to often or with too strong of a rinse can cause discoloration and irritation of your mouth and piercing.

What To Avoid?

  • Do not play with your jewelry. Long term effects include permanent damage to teeth, gums, and other oral structures.

  • Avoid undue trauma; excessive talking or playing with the jewelry during healing can cause the formation of unsightly and uncomfortable scar tissue, migration, and other complications.

  • Avoid oral sexual contact including French ( wet ) kissing or oral sex.

  • Avoid chewing on Tobacco, gum, fingernails, pencils, sunglasses, etc.

  • Avoid sharing plates, cups, and eating utensils.

  • Avoid smoking! It increases risks and lengthens healing time.

  • Avoid stress and all recreational drug use.

  • Avoid submerging healing piercings in bodies of water such as lakes, rivers, oceans, pools, etc.

  • Each body is unique and healing times vary considerably.
